Shalom dear donors and friends of the Olim Fund,
The last five weeks have been grueling as Israel struggled against
a difficult enemy set out to erase our country from the map and
to kill us all while those of us who reside here in the North
either headed South, or spent a great deal of time scurrying back
and forth to air raid shelters as the sirens wailed and the barrages
of rockets fell.
All of the members of the Board of Directors of your Fund and
their families stand in awe, thanksgiving and praise before the
Lord God of Israel who spared us personally of anything more that
frayed nerves, sleepless nights and tears of sadness as we watched
our fellow Israelis pay the ultimate price in blood while our
beautiful country was torn asunder by the incessant showers of
explosive evil that fell upon us from the sky with regularity
each day.
Last evening, the Board of Directors met in the Silverman's lovely
home in nearby Porriyya. I chose that location for our meeting
since I took this rural community to be "safer" than
our own apartment in the center of Tiberias. When I mentioned
this rationale to Tamara Silverman, our newly appointed Managing
Secretary, she pointed to an open field just a few meters from
where we were standing in her living room, to the place where
four Katusahs had impacted menacingly close to them. Dear ones,
no place in Israel is truly safe these days nor will there be
such a place here for any foreseeable time in the future.
Thanks to your never failing generosity, last evening were able
to distribute $11,138 among 20 of our most hurting families. This
was a very great blessing and we rejoice with all of our hearts
that you made this giving loveliness a reality. The details of
this distribution are the substance of the attached monthly report.
For those of you who know me personally you would not expect me
to passionately cry out for further financial assistance. But,
let me tell you, the 20 families you blessed last evening were
only the tip of what will surely soon be a massive iceberg of
urgent survival needs that will fall upon us before our next meeting
in mid September. Already, the current distribution gives a small
introduction to what lies just ahead in the coming weeks. Hundreds
of thousands of olim families who marginally survive here in the
Land of their inheritance have now spent most of the past five
weeks in shelters, for the most part unable to work. Even in times
of peace, many of these these dear people are terribly fragile
when it comes to meeting the barest of necessities like food,
shelter, the relief from dental pain, etc. etc. Now, in the face
of these five weeks that have literally snatched the means of
livelihood from their already bare existence, they are already
crying out for help to the Olim Fund and to wherever else they
may find a loving heart or listening ear.
How else can I say it: The Olim Fund of Israel, urgently needs
a huge expansion of its donations if we are to even begin to meet
this enormous need that is now looming before us.
While many of you to who I am sending this report are already
long time generous donors to the Fund, I thank each of you from
the bottom of my heart for your faithful support. I can only ask
you to please take the time now, without delay to tell others
about your Fund and its immediate urgent needs.
For you who are receiving this monthly report for the first time,
please forgive me for introducing myself with my hand out on behalf
of my brothers and sisters here in the Land---this isn't my normal
style, but these are not normal times. Since you may not know
us or where we are coming from, please visit our web site at www.olimpublications.com
to learn the details of how our Fund operates and for what specific
purposes. In this regard, I would like to emphasize that: 1.Donations
are tax deductible in the United States when sent to us through
The Word of Life Association in Roswell, GA, and, 2. Every single
penny of every dollar that is donated will flow directly to the
olim families in need. Our overhead, which is very low, is provided
from sources external to our donation base.
In summary, if you ever had a thought that you would like to take
our dear Lord up on His Almighty challenge that those who bless
Israel will in turn be abunantly blessed, let me tell you, NOW
is the time to open up your hearts and worldly treasure and let
these blessings come forth.
With many thanks and many blessings to you all,
Bob Fischer
