Because of the urgency, this procedure needed to be conducted in a private hospital where there would be no delay. Her insurance paid for half the cost. She had no means to pay the other half, hence this gift. She is now recovering well.

This divorced mother of a 9 month old son is in the process of relocating to Lod, a much lower cost of living area. She is now working part time at her new location with the good chance of this increasing by the end of the year. In the meantime, she is unable to meet the cost of relocating along with the expensive day care for her son. This gift will help bridge her situation until she is settled in her new circumstances.

This 40 year old divorced mother of a ten year old son worked full time in a kindergarten in Ashdod. Following the most recent undeclared was with daily rocket attacks from Gaza, all kindergartens in her area were closed for more than three months, leaving her without any income before government assistance began. Consequently, she fell into great debt, the most serious being her non-payment of “arnona” (property and water tax). The city is now about to take her to court and shut off her water. She is now back at work but it will take some time for her to recover. This gift will settle the account with the City.

These items, especially the bed and mattress are now totally beyond use and urgently need to be replaced. This gift will buy them a new double bed with mattress.

This couple in their early 30’s came from  Georgia ten years ago. The head of the family has only recently received citizenship because of questions regarding his religious beliefs. Hence, he has been unable to work legally while his wife, who did become a citizen has been supporting him and their two young children on her meager income as a house cleaner. He recently was authorized to seek employment which should greatly help their situation. They are deeply in debt and struggling to survive. This gift will cover one month’s rent, utilities and some food.

This 63 year old mother of grown children in the United States made aliyah in 2003 but was forced to return to the States due to severe domestic problems. She returned to Israel earlier this year to seek work and apply for a pension from the government in order to make a place for her family when what she feels will be an inevitable need for all Jews to come to Israel. She has been unable to find work, and the government will not begin her pension until she pays them  $1,216 in back taxes which is half of what she owes. In the meantime she is sharing a tiny apartment with three other women paid for with a temporary $500 per month gift from various family members. This gift will establish her pension so that her family will have a place to come here in the Land.

This divorced 49 year old mother of three teenagers was visited by her mother two years ago who fell seriously ill soon after she arrived with no money and no medical insurance. She grew progressively worse with mounting medical bills and finally died leaving her daughter with the need to pay the very large accumulated costs of her failed treatment and funeral which she covered leaving her unable to pay for her current rent, utilities and food. This gift will help her recover from this financial upheaval.

He is now looking for work while working part time repairing computers. They are barely able to put food on the table and will be unable to buy needed school supplies for their children later this month. This gift is for food and school supplies

They have no money for their new rental or other survival level needs such as food until their new salaries are paid at the end of this month. This family of three is relocating from Jerusalem to Neve Oved in the Galilee where they have found employment and much lower living expenses. The head of the family started a business in 2006 that failed in 2008 and he has been unsuccessfully looking for work ever since in Jerusalem, In the meantime, their first child was born and his wife could not seek employment. They have been barely surviving up to now on small gifts from friends and family.  This gift will cover their relocation expense and otherwise help them start over  here in the North.

The 26 year old head of this family fell very seriously ill with an infection of his heart that has led to congestive heart failure. He is under intensive treatment and has just lost his salary as a truck driver. His wife must care four their four young children and is unable to work.
