Shalom Dear Friends of the Olim Fund of the Land of Israel,
Last evening I had the honor and privilege of chairing the monthly
meeting of our Board of Directors whereat we were able to bless
thirteen different families in the Land all the way from Nahariya
in the North to Arrad in the South. Our collective gifts this
month totaled $6,356.
It was you, through your continued love and generosity, who made
this great work for our hurting immigrant families a reality and
you can be assured that you will be greatly blessed for your faithfulness.
While we address a wide variety of emergency survival needs,
emergency dental treatment has become more and more a leading
focus of the requests for assistance we receive. It is genuinely
shocking to see the deplorable condition of so many of our dear
ones in this regard and to note that there is no government assistance
available to deal with these very great needs.
Last night, the Board struggled with this situation and decided
that we must put some reasonable limits on the extent of dental
care we provide or risk having your Fund evolve into a dental
insurance program of sorts. We made the following decisions.
1. The top limit for one time gifts to deal with dental problems
will be 3000 NIS ($667).
2. The Fund will provide care to relieve immediate pain and to
preclude pain in the short term.
3. The Fund will not provide assistance for any cosmetic dental
care.
Donna and I will be in the United States for a month starting
tomorrow. I will be teaching my Jewish Roots of Christianity Course
at Faith Seminary, followed by a short visit with each of our
three daughters and their families.
Your prayers are needed and greatly appreciated.

had a massive stroke and remains in a coma. This is a very
long term situation that will require a miracle to bring
recovery. In the meantime, his salary is terminated and
his wife is no longer able to work part time as a seamstress
in the short tern as she is spending every waking moment
with her husband, praying for his recovery. This gift is
intended to meet short term basic needs.
